What is the Cloud?

Everything on the internet is hosted in the cloud, from emails and social media, to video platforms like Netflix and YouTube, but what actually is the cloud?

You’ve probably heard of the cloud and used it already, knowingly or not.

Essentially, it's a term used to describe the way computer data is stored on remote servers, which are linked by a global network. The software and databases that run on the cloud servers are accessed over the internet.

Cloud servers are located in data centers all over the world, and the servers are maintained by a third-party provider who is responsible for hosting, managing, and securing data stored on its infrastructure.

What are the benefits of cloud storage?

When something is in the cloud, it means it's stored on the cloud servers instead of your computer's hard drive. By using cloud computing, users and companies do not have to manage physical servers themselves or run software applications on their own machines.

Easy file access.

The cloud enables users to access the same files and applications from almost any device. Making your files accessible anywhere, our service allows you to give flexible access to people who need to work on company files.

Secure data backups.

Our cloud backups allow your company to save all it's information onto our cloud based DataSafe Servers over the internet, overnight. We use DataSafe traffic technologies, which save time and bandwidth when backing up large amounts of data or large files. The data is sent securely to prevent eavesdropping and email notifications are sent stating whether backup was successful or not.

Secure e-mail.

Cloud e-mail is becoming very popular, due to the low cost of implementation and it's resilience to internet outages. It also means you no longer have to worry about running your own email server in house.

At Realtec we can help your company move to the cloud, with a service and support level that puts you in front of the queue. Call for a quick chat with any questions or concerns you may have.
